Warm Up: My First Experience with Dewey’s Read-a-Thon

I am new when it comes to this event, but have chosen to tell you about my first experience with it. But first let me just briefly tell you who I am. My name is Anne-Mette Højbjerg and I’m a Beauty & Lifestyle Blogger from the small country up north called Denmark. I was born in May 1984. I love to read big fat books and read everything from fantasy, to chick lit, thrillers, mystery and some historical novels.

My interests are everything from makeup, graphics, the paranormal, wicca, photography, fun gadgets and of course books. I love the fall and its golden colors and the beautiful foxes.

I have been very curious on Dewey’s Read-a-Thon, since I saw more and more bloggers write about it. However, I did not think it was something I could attend, since I am not a book blogger, but in October last year I jumped on the bandwagon and participated anyway. And I was pleasantly surprised. I was especially surprised by how much everyone did during it, with all the competitions and cheering for those who read. It was amazing. Unfortunately, I did not participate in any of the competitions because I couldn’t handle much more than reading and eat/drink when I needed it. 😛 I had a hard time pulling myself away from the book I was reading, and I’m not one of the fast readers, so I wanted to see if despite that I could at least read one book completely through in the 24 hours.

But even though I didn’t participate in much more than the reading-part, I was really happy to have been a part of it, and it is definitely something I will continue to do in the future. So I’m on at April 25 – you can count on that! And I can’t wait. 🙂 I have already started to plan what books I need to look at, and what I should buy when it comes to the snacks, drinks and food for the 24 hours.

I very much hope that the weather gets warm enough so that I can sit on the balcony and read. Because I have made it super cozy out there and it would be so nice to use my little corner. 🙂 So I’m crossing my fingers that it will be possible.

  1. So glad you deciding to join our cult, I mean Read-A-Thon. These are my two favorite book blogging events of the entire year and I have some great books I’m planning on reading this year. You said you like big books so can I recommend The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah or Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult.
