  1. I can’t wait! I’m going to clear my schedule for that weekend and make a nice pile of books to reserve for the readathon.

Thank you so much for hosting this event!

    –Rayna

  2. Thank goodness I’ve already got a ton of books to read. This is my first year participating and I am SOOO excited!

  3. I don’t know, as I am unsure as to what is going with my dad in town that weekend. It might end up I can do it, but I probably won’t know until at least the day before.

  4. Won’t be able to participate for the entire time as I have a murder mystery dinner party but still should get some intense reading in.

  5. Reading along from Denmark, so looks like that’ll be 1pm-1pm for me this time around. Can’t wait! I’m already thinking up my books.

  6. I’m so excited!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I was actually wishing there were still read-a-thons like when I was in elementary school (we had one every year) and was so surprised to discover this! haha.

  7. I’m reading from Australia! I make that out to be a starting time of 11pm on the Saturday… although now I think about it, daylight savings is possibly going to change that time difference πŸ˜‰

  8. This is my first time participating, I’ve been looking forward to this since September (as I unfortunately missed the October one). I tried to make my own 12 hour tead-a-thon in January, but after 3 hours with a book that was not too good I felt really lonely and gave up. I have to pick better books and hopefully won’t feel so lonely knowing I’m not the only one reading.

I’m reading from Beijing, China, which will be from 7pm local time. I’m planning to join for the full 24 hours, but my dad might be here and then I’m going to miss out on some of the hours.

  9. Yes! I had such a blast during October’s readathon that I’ve been eager for this sign-up post!

I will be readathoning in San Diego, and will go for the full 24 hours- 5 a.m.-5 p.m. Yes!

  10. Yay! I really hope I can do it this time, but I should be able to! I’ve never been able to before, so I’m excited. And a read-a-thon is definitely needed in April!

I’ll be reading from Sweden! Starting 2PM my time. πŸ˜‰

  11. This is going to be awesome! My first read-a-thon so it’ll be interesting to try to get through the full 24 hours. Wish me luck!

  12. I’ll be reading from Oklahoma City! I’m going to try to get started a little early since I won’t stay up the whole 24 hours. I’m too old, and I’m heading to Dallas the next day for an all-day concert so I’ll need some sleep!

  13. I won’t be aiming for the whole 24 hours this time as the UK start is just too late for me personally but I will try and do 12 hours and maybe cheerlead in the final stages when I’ve had some sleep πŸ˜‰ Also I have a work night out the night before which is not going to help.

  14. The last readathon I did was great and I’m excited for this one! Especially since I’ve gotten almost no reading done as of late because I’ve been trying to take care of my sick dog πŸ™ Hopefully she’ll be all better by the readathon so I can focus on losing myself in some books πŸ™‚

  15. I’m gonna be reading from Florida in the US c: <3
I've got a TON of books I've been dying to start reading, so I'm gonna start getting them all together~

  16. This will be my 2nd read-a-thon and I hope to be more successful. I’m taking tips from others and not cheerleading or doing mini games and just reading this time. I’m in the Eastern time zone.

  17. woohooo i’m so excited! this is my third readathon and i’m gonna be reading from vienna, austria πŸ™‚

  18. I’m in. I don’t know what I’ll be doing that weekend or even where I’ll be (definitely the US, time zone is in question). It’s unlikely I’ll be able to read for all or the majority of the 24 hours.

But this will be my…third (I think) readathon and now it feels like tradition to sign up. And whatever little free time I do have that weekend, I hope to spend it immersed in a great book.

  19. Well, I did it. I signed up. I watched this insanity last year and thought it looked like such fun. This year, thanks to Marq, I signed up. Now to figure out a plan. LOL.

  20. I have signed up. This will be my second read-a-thon and I am looking forward to it. I lasted the entire 24 hours last time and I hope I can do that again. This time will hopefully be easier as there is going to be 24 hour light / sun at that time. I will be participating from Qaanaaq in the north of Greenland.

  21. its my first one…. i am in India. how exactly will i adjust the time zone difference? plz somebody help me out. i so want to do this

  22. Oops, I think I may have double or even treble posted to the linky thinking it was an old page and the initial post didnt register.
Please delete the FIRST one as the link is in error.

  23. This is the first time for me trying out a social event like this online – really excited!

I will be reading from my home country, Sweden πŸ™‚

  24. I’m super excited to do this one, I hadn’t heard about it until the October one was already in progress so I’ve been patiently waiting since then. I’ll be reading from British Columbia, Canada and will be starting at 5am PST.

  25. Haven’t been able to take part since April 2010 and so really looking forward to this and determined to stay up for the full 24 hoyrs even though it’s a late start here in London. And trying to raise money for charity too!

  26. I’ll be reading from Kent, England, but I won’t be able to start at 12pm as I’ll be at work. Wanted to take the day off as I had such a great time with the last one, but unfortunately I can’t, so I’ll be starting as soon as I get back! Yay!

  27. I’ll be reading in Norman, OK starting at 7am! I’m pretty excited, it’s my first one and my friends are on full nerd-alert… πŸ™‚

  28. Reading from Ontario, Canada here, and can’t wait to start my second read-a-thon here with all you fine readers. And I’m so happy I don’t have to start until 8:00 am EST. πŸ˜€

Woohoo, only two more weeks! (and only one week after my library’s big book sale… coincidence, I think not.)

  29. First time participating and I have to admit I’m both nervous and excited lol. Now to see about getting work off for that day so I can actually participate. Good luck everyone!

  30. This will be my first readathon too! From USA – Eastern Time. I’m old, so I hope I can stay up LOL

  31. I hadn’t realised that the spring Read-a-thon was so soon. Now I only have two weeks to plan what to read. I managed a read for about 17.5 hours last time, and seriously doubt I’ll be able to do much more than that, but I will absolutely give it my best shot. Such a luxury – having all that reading to look forward to.

  32. My first readathon I already have all the books to read. I’m Eastern time from Boston MA. I’m sure I’ll be able to stay up.

  33. Looking forward to this. Hoping I can do it even for 12 hours but I am going to do smaller books and a couple larger ones and go as long as I can.

  34. I’m so excited about this read-a-thon. It’s been a crazy past two months and I so need to get away from reality and what better way to do that than picking up a good book or two or three and read.

What I love and looking forward to the most is being able to participate in this event with two amazing people, my best friend and her husband.

  35. Yay, finally got myself listed with the proper URL this time.
Building my Newbery stack nice and high.
I’ll be reading from South Korea and also doing some cheering. Can’t wait!!!

  36. Yay, can’t wait πŸ™‚ I think this will be the 5th time I’m participating!!!

I’m from Macedonia, so for me the starting time will be 2 pm πŸ˜‰

  37. I’ve been looking forward to this since the last Read-a-thon, and have already started the book pile I’ll be choosing from.

I’ll be reading from Norway, which means starting time will be 1pm. Can’t wait!

  38. I signed up last year and failed — I was out most of the night for a big museum night. This year I loosely agreed to go hiking with some friends either Saturday or Sunday. I’ll be playing it by ear, I’m really not sure read what’ll win — reading or hiking. I’d be reading from Germany again this year, so 12pm Saturday to 12pm on Sunday? That sounds doable…

  39. Never done this before. I’m a little nervous and very excited. And I have a pile of books to dive into! I’m in Indiana, USA, so central time, which should be…. 7AM? Math is my nemesis, so correct me if I’m wrong.

  40. I have another commitment that day, but can’t resist signing up anyway and participating as much as I can. It’s too much fun to miss! I’ll be reading from Utah.

  41. I’m signing up, but probably won’t be able to read very much on the exact day, since it’s of course the one day that I’ve scheduled for apartment hunting. Now, to get to the apartment hunting city I have to ride 12 hours in the car there and then back, so on Friday and Sunday I plan to get a lot of reading done. So with that being said I’ll be reading all the way from Minnesota to Michigan and back again!

  42. I’m going to participate by reading again. I believe this will be the 4th time that I have taken part in this Read-a-Thon. This year, I’m going to be offline for most of the read-a-thon as the 21st is the first day of my vacation and we are taking a road trip through California, Nevada, and the surrounding area. One advantage of this is that I will get huge chunks of uninterrupted reading time without the distraction of the Internet. The big disadvantage is that I will find it difficult to update my blog with status posts — or to check on the other readers — or to participate in the challenges. So, one way in which I will try to post about what I’m reading will be to use my Blackberry to Tweet and make Facebook updates. I’ll also investigate the possibility of posting to my blog with the Blackberry.

So — I’m really happy to be reading along with everyone else this year, and the challenge of reading while traveling (though not while driving since it’s hubby who will be behind the wheel) should make this a memorable read-a-thon. Can’t wait until next weekend.

  43. Super excited about this!! I still have to choose a book as well and I have a concert the night before, so the 24 hours will be interesting!!!

  44. I’m excited – it’s my first time doing this, and I’ll be reading in Toronto. Here’s to clearing some books off the TBR list!

  45. Hey everyone!

This will be my first time participating in the Read-a-thon and I am uber excited!!!

I hope that being a college student will pay off and I will be able to stay up all 24 hours!!!

    Good luck to everyone!

  46. I’ll be reading in Gainesville, Florida. This will be my first time participating on purpose. I happened to participate accidentally once! πŸ™‚

  47. I’m going to start trying to clear most of the day at least and some of the night. Will be reading from Chattanooga, TN if it works. Here’s to last minute decisions!

  48. Oh, this is a first time I am doing a Read-a-thon and delightedly hoping I can lighten some of my to-be-read shelf. I will be particiapting from India which implies I start around, (jeepers!), 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

  49. OK I finally bit the bullet and signed up! Not exactly sure how much I’ll be able to accomplish considering my parents will probably make me go to a 5k run (to raise money to help end human trafficking!) and I will be leaving for church right about when this ends so I’ll need to sleep sometime! But anyway we’ll see how it goes!
I’m in Ohioville, PA about and hour from Pittsburgh and right before Ohio.

  50. I’ll be reading from home in northern Indiana…we’ll see how much I get done with a 4 month old, but I’m looking forward to it!

  51. I’m so excited for my first one!!! I’m going to really try to do the whole thing!! I’m pumped!

  52. I waited until pretty much the last minute to sign up (like I always do!). Can’t wait until 9am my time Saturday (PEI, Canada) so I can start reading!

  53. Whoops! If not for Facebook I might have missed this one. So this leaves me with one day to prepare my book list. This is my 3rd time joining, and I’ll be reading from Singapore.

  54. I am sooo! excited, It is my schools reading day so I will be taking that quite literally. I have a huge stack of things I want to get done. Sadly I have a huge paper due that day…oh well I guess this means I can’t procrastinate!!!

I LOVE this thing so much. I look forward all year (thankfully it comes around twice)

  55. How have I never known this existed?!?! Perfect timing; the hubby will be out of town that day, so it gives me a great excuse to participate and spend the whole day with my nose in a book (poor dog!). I’ll be participating in Ohio! πŸ™‚

  56. Hey! just started my own new book blog. I have been blogging for a couple years now for other blogs but decided I wanted my own corner of the www so maybe joining a readathon would make for some fantastic beginning posts to get me started.
Oh, and I am in Utah!

  57. This is my first Read-a-thon, and I’m looking forward to the excuse to sit around and read all day! I’ll be reading from Maryland, USA, so my start time will be 8 AM. Can’t wait!

  58. Hey, everyoneβ€”this will be my first read-a-thon, though I’d heard about the event a few years back. I’ve got quite a few books out from the library at the moment, and I look forward to checking them off my list and writing reviews about them in the upcoming week! Best of luck to you all, and I look forward to reading with you this Saturday! πŸ™‚

  59. Wow! If I hadn’t seen the message on Facebook I wouldn’t have known the read-a-thon was this Saturday.

I had a 5K race in the morning, but I will be listening to a book while I run!!

  60. Oh this is soooo great! This is my first read a thon! i have to work for two hours that day but I will be reading all day long when i’m not working! yeah!!!!

  61. I believe this is my 4th (or maybe 5th?) readathon. I was worried I might have missed it but the facebook post reminded me πŸ™‚ And I shou;d have the time to do it this year. With my pile of library books, and my collection of unread books, plus my kindle collection, I should have no problem picking stuff to read tomorrow. πŸ˜€ Whether I will be able to blog all the way, I don’t know, but I am sure well gonna try! XD

  62. How have I not heard of this before??? I have 9 miles to run tomorrow and a Brewers game to attend, but other than that I’m looking forward to spending the day reading.

  63. I just learned about this! I’m glad I learned about it in time to participate. I’m going to try and read for the full time, but I might fall asleep before that, you never know what’s going to happen.

Anyway, I hope everyone has an AWESOME time and read good books. πŸ™‚

  64. Wasn’t going to do it, but why not. Unlikely I’ll make the full 24 hours, but gonna spend the majority of the day reading and attempting to do this!

  65. Count me in! I’m signing up last minute but I really want to try this. I’ll be joining you from Ontario, Canada. You can follow my progress on twitter (@StephLrx).

I’ve never tried this before so looking forward to it!

  66. I’m eagerly looking forward to this despite my last minute decision to participate. I have about 100 books in my to-read pile and need to make a dent!

I’ll be chatting/blogging from Vancouver, Canada!

    Can’t wait!

  67. I’m really excited to join this time! πŸ™‚

    Books I plan on reading:

    Wicked
Circle of Magic book 1 (light reading)
    Son of a Witch
Circle of Magic book 2 (LR)
    A Lion Among Men
Circle of Magic book 3 (LR)
Circle of Magic book 4 (LR)

    Hopefully 7 is enough. πŸ™‚

  68. Ack! I can’t believe I’m signing up this late, especially considering that it’s been on my calendar since last fall! This is my 6th (!) time participating, and while I’ve hardly planned anything at all this time I’m really looking forward to reading with people all over the world once again.

    Happy Reading to You All!

  69. I used to have my OWN little mini-readathons most weekends. Then I started teaching, got married (including a ten-year-old stepson), and now spend most of my weekends doing housework, lesson planning, etc. But today is the day! I have many, many books on my TBR pile. No plans at all for which to read (except the Sophie Kinsella I’m currently dying to finish). I’m sure there will be breaks, but I’m devoting today to reading! πŸ™‚

  70. Playing catch-up. Looks like I’m about 2 hours tardy to this party but I’ll be up and running shortly. Thanks to Jillian Bower who, once again, clued me in to this event. This is good. I need this.

  71. started reading on time, but just got ths signup thing to work. spending more time online than actually reading! is that supposed to be the case???

  72. Forgot to say, I’m in Houston, Texas (central time) and we were to start around 7am but 9am is still good. Heck, any time is good when it comes to reading even if it’s for a half hour. More is better.

  73. @ Mellisa W, I don’t know about anyone else but I urge folks to sign up and read no matter when they hear about the challenge. Even if you read a portion of a book, you’re that much further along the way. πŸ™‚

  74. I’m really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog.

Do youu ever run into aany browser compatibility issues?
