It’s Sign-Up Time!

April 9th is coming up soon!  We’re opening up Read-A-Thon sign ups for readers today.  Be on the look out for Mini-Challenge Host sign-ups and Cheerleader sign-ups coming soon.

If you want to sign-up to read during Dewey’s 24-hour Read-A-Thon, just sign the Linky below: (your URL doesn’t have to be a blog you write, it can be your FB profile, a twitter account, etc. Just somewhere we can follow your progress while you’re reading!)

Also, if there are any bloggers that would like to, we would love it if you could do a post just announcing that you’re reading and linking to this sign-up post, and encouraging your readers to do the same.  If you’re not comfortable doing that, please consider snagging one of our buttons and placing it somewhere on your blog, or create your own!  If you’re not comfortable with that, we’re still cool, no worries. *wink*

Thanks everyone!  We’re really looking forward to this year’s Read-A-Thon!

  1. I wish I could participate, but it looks I will likely be at a convention during the weekend. Maybe I’ll drop in at some point, and do a partial read-a-thon.

  2. Funny. I woke up thinking, “I wonder if I missed the Dewey Read-a-thon sign ups, I should check today.” And there it was, the sign-up post in my feedreader.

    Yippee! I can’t wait.

  3. I am so excited for this day! I have made a blog post and directed readers to this site if they are interested. 37 days to go – YAY!

  4. oops, I got excited and accidentally submitted twice! I only put my name in the first time, and realised so pressed the “stop” button on my browser. Then submitted with my blog name too. But both went through. I feel like a doofus! I am sorry, can you please delete my first entry with just my name. Besides that screw up, I am still excited for the read-a-thon.

  5. So excited! I accidentally hit enter twice so I’m listed on there twice. The first time I linked to my goodreads profile, re-thought it, and realized I could put my blog link. Instead of erasing it, I hit enter.

    Anyways, can’t wait!

  6. I am joining for the first time, even though I have to work Saturday and Sunday! I will participate as much as I can.

  7. We love a reading challenge at Diversion Press and are always up for a healthy competition! We will be passing this challenge along to each and every visitor on our blog and will be giving away books to help you reading.

  8. I’ve followed this off and on for awhile, but always seemed to miss the sign-ups! Glad I got here on time. Looking forward to it. 🙂

  9. Been meaning to sign up for a while, and finally got around to it today~ April’s the only time I actually get to participate, ‘coz October’s mid-sem for me here. Hopefully, I’ll be getting more reading in this year as compared to last. Should help that my best friend’s definitely joining in this time! Reading sleepover, for the win! o/

  10. My first read-a-thon!! 🙂 Can’t wait! I’m even setting up my empty blog just for this. 😀 Good luck, everyone! Happy reading!! 🙂

  11. Signed up. I am so excited. It’s going to be my first readathon. Just need to see that I can get the day off work.

  12. I am so excited i can actually put it in my diary and suggest kindly to my family not to bother me for 24 hours unless there is an absolute emergency.

I even have a book or two that i will dive into head first!

  13. This sounds fun! I might not be able to read the ENTIRE 24 hours, but I will every minute of free time I get that day!

  14. I love reading anyway, and was looking forward to having some form of “do nothing but read” day soon again. So yes, definitely in. 🙂

  15. Just signed up, although I’m not sure if I can last the full 24 hours. But I’ll give it a shot. Have to figure out the time for it here in Germany, it will probably be a really odd time…

  16. I’m really looking forward to this — I’m planning on making it a reading getaway with Amanda @ The Zen Leaf! We’re hoping to rent a hotel room, and hang out reading all day! I’ve already started a list of possible reads.

  17. I’m looking forward to this, although projects might change my plan for full immersion. Still, even if I can only do a partial I HAVE to play!

  18. This will be my second time doing the readathon. I’m so excited and had so much fun last year. I’m deturmine to be more prepared this year and I have a new jumbo coffee pot just for the occation 🙂 I’m planning on trying to use my kindle as well as some of my other books. I love the read aloud feature since I get so much more done. Can’t wait for the nice weather and some fun reading! Yeah!

  19. I’ve never done this. My sister sent me the link. I think she and I will do this together and keep up with each other on line. I haven’t seen the rules or requirements yet. Could someone tell me where to find them? Thanks.

  20. I am always reading something .. and do audio books count. When I’m driving or cleaning house I have something going in the ipod. This blog contains my reviews from the 1001 books to read before you die list. You can also link to my goodreads profile to see reviews on all sorts of other books. I will posting an article this week for our local paper and am going to include information about this challenge. Hope everyone reads some good books and doesn’t go blind in the process!

  21. Damn … I have to back out (#213 if you need to take me off a cheerleading list). My mother-in-law just decided to come out for a visit that weekend. I am not amused.

  22. This sounds like a lot of fun. I’m going to try and persuade my daughter to sign up. She may just read and not actually sign up, but I’ll pass along the info to my writer friends. 🙂

  23. I am actually a library cat. I live at Mineola Memorial Library. On behalf our our library’s reading team, I am signing up for this event. There will be a number of Team Mineola Readers who will log in and post during the Read-a-Thon. The Mineola librarians are organizing round-the-clock reading, and I know some of our readers plan to stay here all night. I am looking forward to the reading challenges and very excited about having company overnight!

  24. Signed up! When I was filling out the entry form after my name I hit tab and it skipped down to the October sign-up and I didn’t realize it…sorry >.< So my name is randomly on there because I wasn't paying attention. Looking forward to the readathon! Signed up thanks to janicu @ livejournal.

  25. I found the information I need in the FAQs: April 9, 2011, 1200 GMT. May I recommend that, this time around, instead of clunky tables as the time grows near, you just provide the data in a prominent place and give people a link to convert it? I know the tables confused me no end!

  26. Hey there! I have to step back this time. A sudden change in programs will not allow me to be around. Too bad! I hope the rest of you have lots of fun!
Feel free to remove my link (I’m No. 84, I think)

  27. *sigh* Unfortunately I need you to take my name off the list. As it turns out, I’m going to be packing for an (unforeseen at the time of my original sign-up, but incredibly awesome) move. Next time!

  28. Hi everyone, after a few months’ break in book-blogging I’m here again. Well, a Read-A-Thon is the best way of a new start. 😉

  29. I’m really excited to participate (for the first time this year)! 😀
I’d love to start reading right now…

Only downside is, I have to spend at least 4 hours of the read-a-thon at work… I hope I can get some reading in even there.

  30. I’ve been neglecting my blog and my reading for months and can’t think of a better way to kick-start both. Really excited to have an excuse to do nothing but read for a full 24 hours!

  31. Can’t wait to get started! This will be my 6th read-a-thon and this time both my husband and best friend are taking part. Yae!

  32. I’m so looking forward to it. I hardly read this year and that’s not me. I’m hoping this will help me get back on the game 🙂

  33. Looking forward to this! Need to get my reading back on track for my ‘off the shelf’ challenge, so now I’ve the perfect excuse to sit up in my room all day reading (and dodging the housework 😉 )

  34. So excited that I actually have the time this weekend to do this! Hooray! I have my stack of books, my diet dr. pepper is in the fridge, roll on Saturday!

  35. This is gonna be awesome! I’m going to have to read some of my case books for school too (hope that’s ok), but I have so many TBRs to work on!

  36. Unbelievable. Less than two hours after I signed up for the Readathon, I received a phone call from my father about the death of an aunt of mine. The funeral, out-of-town, is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

  37. This is our first time to join the Dewey 24hour readathon challenge, so please bear with us. I’ve already indicated through the weblink above what my planned set of books for Saturday are. =) Excited to meet everyone who’s joining!

  38. I’m doing it, but – as you said I could do 12-and-12 – I hope you won’t mind if I actually split it a bit more and make it 6-6-6-6, beginning tomorrow (Friday) – it will mean I’ll actually take in everything I’m reading and won’t need to take extra pain medication to make it through the time. I hope that that’s all right.

  39. Just found out about this today. Sounds neat! I have to read 42 books before the 22nd, so hopefully this will help me with that. Sounds like fun!

  40. I can’t wait to get started! I have a stack of books lined up and ready to go. I have a blog post started with my list of books and will update it with last year’s outcome and this year’s goals. Let’s get ready to read!

  41. Only just noticed this, the day before it starts! I’ll be reading and posting, not sure what I’ll be reading yet. I think my plans are changing for tomorrow morning so that I can get everything ready for 1pm over here in the UK.

  42. Hah, learned about the read-a-thon just in the nick of time to sign up and take part. I can wait; this is an amazing idea! 🙂

  43. Hello! I just would like to give an enormous thumbs up for
the great data you will have right here on this
post. I will likely be coming again to your weblog for more soon.
