October 2009, readathon

Hour 24

This is the final hour! Can you believe another round of Dewey’s Read-a-Thon is almost over? It’s been great, and thanks so much to all the participants!

And, because it’s so true, our final song for the read-a-thon is: “Hard Day’s Night” from the Beatles!

For this hour, please answer the End of Event meme on your blog, then come back here and add your specific post’s link to Mr. Linky. We’ll draw 2 inners; one will get 5 books while the other gets the Hatchette bundle. Meme:

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
5. How many books did you read?
6. What were the names of the books you read?
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
8. Which did you enjoy least?
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

Edited to Add: Sometimes it takes a few seconds or refreshes for your link to appear in Mr. Linky. Give it at least a minute or two before you decide there’s a problem. πŸ˜‰

And here are the winners from the surprise drawing of readers who were still awake back in Hour 22:
Petunia
Samantha (Amethyst Princess)

And the winner of Memory’s mini-challenge: Trish (Trish’s Reading Nook)

Congrats ladies! E-mail us about prizes!

Also, if you think you’re in the running for most pages read or most time spend reading, include your numbers via this form, and we’ll announce the winners later. πŸ™‚

Finally, if you were a participant in any way (reader or cheerleader!) please e-mail us (deweyreadathon AT gmail) your vote for Most Enthusiastic Cheerleader (make that the subject).

Thanks again everyone! I hope you all had a WONDERFUL time! I know that I did! πŸ˜€

  3. Leaving a comment to remind that all of my updates & challenges are in 1 post so link is just to main page – I hope this does not pose a problem. If so – I’m sorry I won’t do it that way next year! Thanks for everything!

  4. I wish I’d woken up just an hour earlier to cheer you on for the very last hour!!! I’m still a bit groggy, though…need a shower πŸ˜› THANK YOU for everything, Eva. You did a great job. And the Beatles song made me smile – also a fitting tribute to Dew, since she loved them so much.

    Well done, everyone!!

  5. Thanks for everything Eva – for hosting the Read-a-thon and for wonderful cheering and encouragement! The Beatles ‘Hard Day’s Night’ is a wonderful touch πŸ™‚ I am listening to it now πŸ™‚

    Well done to everyone!

  6. Shelly, I’ve just tested the form and it seems to be working…is it giving you trouble? : What does it say exactly when you try to submit?

  7. Oh if I had realized (ie., read) that that Mr.Linky was for if we thought we were in running for most time spent reading or most pages read then I wouldn’t have filled it out because – I KNOW & KNEW even then that I was not in the running for either! I just assumed (and you know what that does) that the form was for final tallying. Oh well…c’est la vie. I just hope it doesn’t cause you all anymore work!
