Hour 2

Did you see that we have 361 people signed up to participate in the read-a-thon? Isn’t that awesome?!

Also, I inadvertently forgot to mention in the Welcome post that Eva from A Striped Armchair is one of our co-hosts! It’s all fixed now, but thank you Eva for helping us out!

We’re off to a slow start with mini-challenges so that you can focus on reading, but it’s going to be super busy later today! Just a warning. πŸ™‚

Our first blogger-hosted mini-challenge is being hosted by Word Lily. Her mini-challenge is Trending on Twitter, and the winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the bookstore of the winner’s choice. This challenge is only open for one hour, so hurry up and do eet!

Is this your first time participating? Leave a comment on this post and we’ll randomly select 1 first time reader to win one of the Hachette sets of books, which you can see on the Prizes page. We’ll leave this open for three hours and announce the winner in Hour 6.

i’m currently listening to an audiobook [Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer] as i type this. πŸ˜€

  2. This is my first time! Still getting the hang of balancing the reading with memes, challenges, and visiting other participants, but I’m working on it!

  3. This is my first read-a-thon in my adulthood. The last one I remember was in elementary school when we brought sleeping bags to school and wore our pajamas. Oh and our teachers gave us a pizza party at lunch time…it was tons of fun.

  4. First-timer here πŸ™‚ Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s a lil dizzy trying to keep up with all the places to connect with other readathoners πŸ™‚

  6. This is my second time. I did the readathon earlier this year, met a ton of wonderful people along the way, but didn’t quite make it to 24 hours. This time will be different. Thank you for setting this thing up! ???

  9. It’s my first time too! I love to see things I’m doing trending on Twitter.

However, I’m going to have to be more focused on reading! I have barely read since I started!

  10. I’ve watched the readathon happen since the first one, but this is the first time I’ve been able to participate. Happy about that!

  11. My first time too! I might be an hour behind on posting and challenges, but I’ll do my best to keep up!

  13. This isn’t my first time participating in the Read-a-thon, I’ve been a cheerleader before. It is, however, my first time as a reader. It’s so cool being on the other side of it this time! =)

  19. Boo! I just checked in now, so I guess I missed the first mini challenge.
But thought I’d mention that this is my first time participating! YAY! So much fun!

  20. This is my first time participating as well! (at least officially. Last April I wound up cheering some of my friends on and reading a bit because of the atmosphere, but I never signed up officially. I don’t know if that disqualifies me, but if it doesn’t… I’m in!)

Audrey, the first mini-challenge is still open, so you can still enter if you want to! Just post your answers to the introduction meme before the end of this hour! ^-^ (I think that’s how it works anyhow.)

  21. This is my first time participating! I’m listening to Paul Coelho’s “The Alchemist.” Have some books in progess that I hope to finish later today too. Thanks for organizing this!

  22. This is my first year and I’m off to a slow start but hope to pick up the pace later. Trying to get all my daily chores finished along with a cup of coffee, then settling down with Sylvia Plath. Happy reading to all the participants!

  23. I’m just now getting started, but I’m finally here! I’m a newbie too and can’t wait for the possibilities today!! Thank you!!

  24. Yep, this is my first readathon. The online stuff is kinda overwhelming. Don’t worry though, you can teach this old dog new tricks!!!

  25. This is my first time too. I am off to a good start and wish I could take the time to read all of these comments but feel like it would not be wise. I have a 2 year old and have to use my time wisely.
