Hour 16 is Made for Book Carts and Dancing!

HOUR 16???!!! Can you believe it? Time flies when you’re reading…and cheering, and eating, and singing, and dancing! Wait, maybe the dancing was just me. This is Andi from Estella’s Revenge and The Estella Society! I’ll be with you for the next four hours, and co-hosting is always my best favorite part (of all my favorite parts) of the Read-a-Thon! I know this is the time that some of us start to struggle with staying awake, so I’m pulling something out of the librarian’s bag of tricks! Just check out this snazzy video of the Austin ISD Book Cart Drill Team! Yes, book cart drill teams are a thing. If you haven’t Googled, you definitely should. But for now, watch!

Wasn’t that fun? They come up with some really good stuff!

Now it’s your turn! If you could make up your own book cart drill team routine, which song would you prefer? From funk to country to classical, which beat would get you (and your book cart) moving?

  1. Well I’ve never seen a competition like that before Andi, I guess I will choose one Wrapped Up in Books by Belle and Sebastian, they music is always fun 🙂

  2. Hi Andi! I just woke up with page indentations on my face…that is the first time in 8 readathons. Hmmm…I have seen quite a few book cart dancing routines since I went to library school. But I will choose something I have not seen but with a bookish twist like “Paperback Writer”. I love me some Beatles. 😉

  3. Excellent choice, Courtney! And that’s a great track record if it’s been 8 readathons with no face page creases. lol

  4. WhahaHah, Courtney! I actually learned of the book cart drill team phenomenon in library school! Was shocked and impressed.
