Hour 13: The Mid-Event Survey

So remember that time I asked you what was the best snack you had today and you told me all sorts of delicious things that I couldn’t have? That was sad. I’m ordering pizza.

Lets enjoy some Queen while I think about that pizza, shall we?

  1. Yay! I’m still reading. Is there a deadline for doing the mid-event survey? I won’t be posting again until the end of our 14, so I just wanted to check πŸ™‚

  2. Hey that was kind of like daylight savings time. We all sort of fell back an hour. I thought there were 12 hours left, but now, an hour later, there are STILL 12 hours left! Niiiiice πŸ™‚

  3. Queen? They’re awesome, but where’s the ABBA love? πŸ™ Now for the survey.

    1. Villa Amalia, by Pascal Quignard. It’s beautiful and depressing all at once.
    2. Err… this will be the first that I finish, but I did abandon (temporarily) my first book after about 200 pages. Yeah, not that impressive, but in my defence I haven’t read anything in more than a month prior to the ‘thon, so I’m a bit rusty.
    3. Pyramids by Terry Pratchett or maybe The Diving Bell and Butterfly, if I decide to read that (it’s very short!)
    4. Nope, not really. πŸ™‚
    5. Again, almost no interruptions at all. Apparently I’m luckier than I thought.
    6. That I’m not that tired. πŸ˜€
    7. Yeah, have it three or four times a year. πŸ˜€
    8. I WILL be doing this again, but I have no idea.
    9. Nope.
    10. Pick shortish books. I made the mistake of choosing loooong books this year – the longest one is some 600 pages.

  4. 1. What are you reading right now?
Sister’s Grimm … Spoiled … The Lost Hero … Artemis Fowl …. Temple of the Winds …. Garfield …. The Throne of Fire … The Royal Spyness

    18 so far
    3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
The Hitchhiker’s Guider to the Galxay
    4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?
Samantha decided not to go to her grandma’s house
    5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
Richard had to get a haircut, so he read while in the chair getting worked on … Samantha’s mom made her come home, but she convinced her to bring her back
    6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
It is so fun and I’m surprised to still be awake
    7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
    recruiting more people
    8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?
read even more!! and wear more comfy clothes
    9. Are you getting tired yet?
    not really

  5. Survey completed. And by the way, if you haven’t done last hour’s mini-challenge, the Hodge-Podge Proposals, you should. It’s hilarious! At least stop and read the entries when you need a good giggle.

    Yes

    10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?
Make sure you vary your reading. It’s ok to stop between books and break. Nap once at least – it keeps you going. Make sure you have healthy food ready and tons of coffee.

  8. I’m lame. Did the survey an hour early and then couldn’t even link it quickly. But rah rah for halfway!!!! Wait, i think we need more !!!

  9. I feel like I hit an epic slump a couple hours ago, and haven’t latched onto my third book yet. V discouraging.

    But still at it!

  10. Oops, my computer auto-filled the form and it has a book title. Well….anyway, the link’s correct. ONWARDS, GOODLY READERS. LET US CONTINUE THROUGH THE NIGHT.

  11. I had a problem with my link…

So that’s a good excuse to sing again! πŸ™‚

Don’t stop us now! Cos we are ordering pizza and I don’t want to stop the readathon!

  12. Oh how I wish I had more soda! Hmm maybe I should make myself some coffee to keep me away…even though that doesn’t usually work, but it sounds good! πŸ™‚

  13. I wish I could donate but I do not have a paypal account and they want a credit card which I do not have (trying to live a simple life πŸ˜€ ) If you have any suggestions, do email me
