April 2014

April 2014 Readathon Wrap Up!

The next readathon will be October 18, 2014!

WOW! What a Readathon that was! It was so memorable in so many ways, from the records we set to the special guests who read along with us, to ALL OF YOU who participated and helped organize!

To celebrate, we’ve crafted a fun little infographic that highlights some of our Read-a-Thon stats! A few of them have changed just slightly since we collected them, but we’re pretty close!

And a few things we forgot to mention up top:

  • We’re up to 863 titles in the Books Read Database!
  • Hundreds of Instagram photos were uploaded!
  • We TRENDED on Twitter for all 24 hours!
  • We had over 200 prizes donated!
  • We had one very special celebrity author read! Thanks, Marissa Meyer!
  • We had LOTS of people jump in to read for charity!

Isn’t that amazing!!! We’re blown away every time we look at it!

If you’re interested in joining us for the October 2014 Read-a-Thon and you think you might like to volunteer in some capacity, please fill out the interest form below. You are not committed! But we’ll contact you when we get things rolling ’round about September.

  1. Hey Andi, I’m trying to register for more than one volunteering area (Help Organizer Cheerleaders and Host a Mini-Challenge) but it only lets me do one. I will register for the first, but please count me in for a mini challenge too 🙂

  2. All fixed! Thank you for the heads up, and I made a note in the spreadsheet that you’d like to do both. 😀

  3. So much fun, as always! I was happy to give away a bunch of of books from my tbr pile for my mini-challenge. Not so sure I’ll be as happy when I hit the post office tomorrow!
Count me in for a mini-challenge. I may comeback and do cheerleading too since I don’t think I can be a reader since that is the day between my wedding anniversary and son’s birthday.

  4. That is two days before my birthday. Wouldn’t want to spend it any other way. I won’t get as much reading done with the fall readathon. October is a busy month for our family. We have three birthdays to celebrate.

  5. Let me see what we can do about that. Because it includes email info, I don’t want to make it public right now, but if we let it run for a few more days I may be able to take those columns out and provide a link to the tweaked version. I’ll try to have it up by Friday!

  6. This was my first, but I greatly enjoyed it and would love to help out next time. Submitted the ideas that appealed to me. 🙂

  7. Thanks, everyone, for the wonderful day! I only managed about 14 hours, but it was a glorious time — two books read, lots of ‘me’ time — I’m so grateful to all! The mini-challenges, the cheerleaders, the camaraderie — just fabu. Thank you, thank you!
