It’s just around the corner now, guys. The Read-a-Thon starts in a mere 15 and 1/2 hours, and I could not be more excited. For Heather and I, joining the Read-a-Thon team really means two things:
1. Helping maintain and perpetuate a much-loved community event.
2. Honoring Dewey’s memory.
We’ve come so far now and done so many Read-a-Thons, many of you probably never had the pleasure of meeting Dewey. I still have Dewey’s Hidden Side of a Leaf feed in my Google Reader, and I was doing a little reminiscing and reading through her posts. This one stuck out to me as a great example of what made Dewey so lovable and fun.

Today I was just asked the best question I’ve ever been asked about my blog.
This question was asked by what is commonly known as an IRL friend, though I dislike that term because I think my internet time is Real Life and I think internet friends are Real and have Life outside the internet.
But this friend is what one of my internet friends calls a “flesh friend,” and I think you will agree that her question has Best Ever status:
“Are you still reading books for the internet?”
Yes, internet, it is for you that I read all these books! I hope you know what a great sacrifice it is for me to do you this favor. Please send all million-dollar donations expressing your gratitude to:
We miss you, Dewey. Thank you for showing us the way. 🙂 Cheers!
Andi, Heather, Shesten, Trish, and the rest of the team.
