Hour 23 – And then there were 4

fyi-24

Welcome to Hour 23!!! This is Kate from Kate’s Book Nook. I will be your co-host for the last 2 hours. If you are just rejoining us for the remain couple of hours, I would like to say “Welcome back!” You have been missed.

I would like to take a moment to thank the wonderful hosts of this event, Andi and Heather. These are two of the most amazing people in the history. They spend nearly the full year planning the event for us and taking care of things that occurred after the last event (like survey results and prizes). Without all their hard work, this event wouldn’t be half the one it is. Thank you, ladies. We all owe you so much!

Genre Election

In case you missed the last two update, let me briefly tell you what is going on here for the rest of the readathon. This year, during these last four hours, we are going to hold our own election. The contestants (16 of the top genres according to goodreads) are up for election on which genre is the preferred genre for readathoners. After each round of voting half of the contestants will continue to the next round and half will “drop out” of the election. I will tally the votes at quarter to the hour so I have time to make the next poll. I hope that you all enjoy this and don’t take it too seriously. It is all meant to be in good fun.

We are now onto round 3 of voting. 75% of the genres we started with have acknowledged that they won’t be the Supreme Genre. But a quarter of them are still holding out hope. Already, some of the big genres (like Science Fiction) have fallen while Mystery and Contemporary Fiction are holding on (it was a close call between those three). For this round, you can vote for two genres. At a quarter till the top of the hour, only two will remain, so choice wisely!

Round 3 – Please only select two options!
